ELYRIA — Bryan Thomas has resigned from his position as a probation officer with the Lorain County Adult Probation Department nearly a month after agreeing to never work as a probation officer again as part of a plea deal in his criminal case. Thomas, 58, of Elyria, had been facing misdemeanor charges of dereliction of duty, sexual imposition and menacing in Elyria Municipal Court. The charges of sexual imposition and menacing were dismissed.

ELYRIA — A probation officer with Lorain County Adult Probation placed on unpaid leave earlier this year has agreed to not return to his position after pleading guilty to amended charges. Bryan Thomas, 58, of Elyria, had been indicted on misdemeanor charges of dereliction of duty, sexual imposition and menacing in Elyria Municipal Court in August before visiting Judge John Ridge. The charges of sexual imposition and menacing were dismissed. The agreement also stipulates that if Thomas is found in breach of the agreement about his employment, the state can prosecute him on the original charges.
