Hello It is only 4 weeks until the Newbury Radio Rally and everything is planned and ready for another enjoyable and busy day. As always, advance bookings are coming in fast, with many sellers places now secured. This enjoyable rally takes place on Sunday 23 rd June at the Newbury Showground next to junction 13 of the M4 motorway in Berkshire. One of the many good things to report this year is that we have a new site layout for the rally.

Thankyou NADARS for a great Newbury Rally
For anyone into military radio, Patrick kindly pointed out that these Clansman SURF units are available quite cheaply on well know auction sites currently. It is essentially a variable bandpass filter I believe, designed for using VHF manpacks together in close proximity. It is a beautiful piece of engineering if slightly radioactive!

Newbury Radio Rally
Almost 40 members of the Conejo Valley Amateur Radio Club brought out their antennas and ham radio equipment to the playfield at Maple Elementary School in Newbury Park for a hour on-the-air event in which they communicated with people around the world. On the fourth weekend of each June, more than 35, radio amateurs gather with their clubs or simply with friends to operate ham radios from remote locations. It is an informal contest between FCC-licensed operators to see how many stations they can contact and to learn to operate radio gear in abnormal and less-than-optimal conditions.
This is a week later than previous years, but a move has been necessary to gain help from volunteers to run the event. NADARS pride themselves in attention to detail and maintaining high standards of service to both Sellers and Buyers, but it takes a large number of volunteers to staff the event. It will also be the 31st year of this much-loved rally and we look forward to providing you with a warm and friendly welcome once again. You can pay your subs via a bank transfer BACS.
